An extensive two-month voyage circling the Land Down Under was terminated days after the tragic passing of an elderly female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The ship departed without her and went back several hours later after the crew became aware the woman was unaccounted for.

A major hunt found her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator announced that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that travelers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an updated communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Captain" preventing any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the ship in Cairns upon its arrival.

The ship first departed the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the journey at the time of the senior passenger's passing. The remote island was the first stop on the itinerary.

Passengers on the ship - who usually pay tens of thousands of money to participate in the cruise - were taken there for a shore visit with the possibility of hiking or snorkeling.

Relatives Statement

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her family was "stunned and grieved that the ship left the location after an organised excursion without my mother".

Via her announcement, she described her parent as an "active elderly person" who was a participant of a hiking organization.

"According to scant information we have been provided, it appears that there was a failure of care and basic judgment," she mentioned.

She continued that she wished the examination would be able to identify what "the company should have performed that might have saved Mum's existence".

"Based on information from the investigators that it was a extremely warm afternoon, and she took sick on the hill climb," she revealed.
